There is a buzz! Now, Verizon FiOS customers will be able to access YouTube and live radio through their TVs. The fiber-based Internet and television service provider has been rolling out a passel of widgets designed in order to help FiOS customers for past 12 months. This urge was to satisfy the needs of customers to access online content and connect via social media. We had seen Twitter and Facebook last year, the former lets you see, on-screen, live Tweets related to the show you're watching. But, the latest thing would let you enjoy live radio stations.FiOS customers can now access YouTube video and free live radio, but only as long as their network-connected computer is on and running the latest Verizon Media Manager software. This would lead to let users enjoy free online radio stations at any point of time.
Verizon's Shawn Strickland, vice president of consumer strategy for Verizon, did admit that it's a long term goal to not only cut the PC and desktop application out of the picture, but to, potentially, bypass Verizon's own set-top boxes as well. The company could even foresee a scenario where customers have a console like the Xbox 360 and are using Verizon-network-based services to access FiOS IPTV offerings.
